-Halloween Group Project-

Character Design: Part 3

Development.

Turn Arounds

- Halloween Project group-

Character Design: Part 2
Next was designing the friend, now knowing what the main character looks like, who was being designed by another person. I could design the girl to be contrast of the girl, while also remembering the inspiration of Tim Burton.

The director picked design one to go further.

Character Design

I got put in charge for designing the friend, bully's and extras. I started off by designing multiple and range of bullys, so the director would have range of bully's to choose from. I did this by using a whole range of shapes, for example circles, triangles and rectangles.

The director like them all but we only needed two designs, which he picked design one and design 5 to be developed further.

Character Design

To start my character design I went round London, while I was travelling and I did some people watching and drawing the people around me.
I did this to get a sense of different of personalty in people and in my drawings.

I then went and started think of what shapes my characters could be made out of and what I have learnt from my people watching, child are normally circles and rectangle and from what you can see I constructed a couple before and a couple of quick sketches.

I then did a little sketch that really ft the characters personally so I developed it more with the outcome on the right.

In which I then went back and then did final versions in different costume which would be relevant to my story.

Photoshop Storyboard

Here are my almost finished storyboard, what I have to do now is add a few more panels and change a couple of panels that don't make senses.

These six panels show a autumn sky scene which I would then track across one side to the other
in to a tree to cut the the title.

Cut to Halloween title with lighting effects. Then have a another cut to a girl running from one side of the frame to the other, with her pretending to be  a aeroplane to suggest a child like manner.

Jump cut to being behind  the girl and seeing her running  into her room and running over to the dresser, which has the teeth, hair dye and scissors.
Which was as heard in the poem.

Cut to action shot of her grabbing her fake teeth and running out of shot.

Back to the wide shot of her grabbing her and running around with her cape and running into the wardrobe and slamming the door behind .
I thought having her jump into the wardrobe to get changed instead of her getting change normally, just because it would be easier to animate and better for kids to watch.

Wardrobe moves about side to side and having a slow tracking shot going into the  wardrobe and with a big puff of smoke and a bang.

Smoke clears to a spot light to revel a demon, vampire like figure in her imagination. She then runs one side to the other and like a demon then screams at the camera, then cuts to lighting shot.

Cuts to first person view to her hands transforming and having a tracking shot to her face to revel the dead.

Close up to her face to releasing her mum ( as a bat) wanting to take her to school. The girl transform in to a bat and flies out the window and out of shot. To a cut of her flying to her school gates.

Transform back into a girl, with a witch laugh to get the people attention, to a shock face, with laughter starting to a wide shot.

To revel that's its not halloween.

Development for thumbnails

Here I started to add cuts, and track using blue pencil and different angle placements.

Storyboarding with thumbnails

Quick thumbnails sketches, for working out layouts and camera angles.
